Obituary Edward Joseph Hazuka Mar. 10, 1940 - Jan. 18, 2006 Edward Hazuka, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone passed away on January 18, 2006 with family at his side. Born and raised in Tacoma, graduated Bellarmine High School, attended both Seattle University and University of Puget Sound. Ed was a highly decorated police officer and promoted to Detective Sergeant in the homicide division of the Tacoma Police Department for 17 years. After retirement from the police department, he became a businessman and partner of Lindberg Distributors. Ed was an avid sports fan and fisherman, spending his free time fishing on the bay, was considered a top-notch salmon fisherman, winning several fishing derbies on the Puget Sound. Other passions were competitive card playing, cooking, spending time with his grandchildren, and he was a 44-year member of the Tacoma Elks #174. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Hazuka and loving aunt Mary Mulkerin. He is survived by his college sweetheart, best friend and wife of 40 years, Renee Hazuka, son Edward Hazuka II (Lisa) of Maui, HI, daughter Lisa Walsh (Mike) of Gig Harbor, and 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by his devoted nieces Melissa Homan (Mick), Gina Spencer and their families and many loving friends. Ed was tough, yet kind. His love, courage and memory will never die.
