Edward William (Ned) Hagan

Obituary Edward "Ned" W. Hagan passed away on October 27, 2016. Born January 29, 1928 in Inspiration, Arizona, he was the third son to John L. and Julia P. Hagan. Ned graduated from Santa Clara University in 1950, and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Nagoya, Japan. In 1954 he married Mary A. Baer in San Francisco. Together they raised their seven children in Sacramento, CA and Tacoma. Ned began his insurance career with United Pacific and retired as a marine insurance underwriter with Reliance. Ned chaired and served on numerous boards and committees: The Knights of Columbus; St. Charles Borromeo Parish Council; St. Leo High School Board; Tri-School Consolidation Committee; Tacoma Serra Club; Bellarmine Preparatory Board; Tacoma Catholic Children's Community Services and Calvary Cemetery. He served the needs of others volunteering in social justice ministries: the Parish Holiday Basket Program and Food Bank; Network Catholic Social Justice Lobby; Associated Ministries, Paint Tacoma Beautiful; Nativity House and Habitat for Humanity. He was a devoted husband, a man of Faith. After Mary's death in 2008, he married Dolores "Dolly" Williams, surrounded by family and friends. Ned and Dolly traveled and enjoyed an active life. Ned is survived by his wife, Dolly, children Jane Hagan (Mark Kirchmeier), Julia Hagan (Michael Murphy), Colleen Hagan (John Pendergrass), Molly Hagan (Chris Constantine), John Hagan (Teresa Hagan), Susan Hagan (BC Kim), Kate Hagan (John McCarthy), and grandchildren Anne, Clare, Tristan, Andy, Colin, Grace, Shannon, Ian, Reiland, Pearl, Genevieve, Sean, Frank and Kyle. Rosary will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6th at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7th at St. Charles Borromeo Church, with reception following. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church or a social justice charity.
