Obituary Edmund Benedict Ganley Edmund Benedict Ganley, 72, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Tacoma General Hospital surrounded by his family. Edmund is survived by his wife Maureen of 42 years, daughters Mary Ellen (Michael), Karen, and Susan (Darren); brother, Peter and sisters, Inez and Mary Jane. He was a proud "Pop-Pop" to five grandchildren: Calum, Catherine, Claire, Maya and Liam. Edmund was born in New York to Edmund and Inez Ganley on April 17, 1941. He attended Bishop Loughlin High School in New York and Monmouth University in New Jersey. He worked in the insurance industry for 50 years. Edmund grew up in New York and New Jersey. His fondest memories were summers on the Jersey Shore. Edmund and Maureen were married in 1971 in New York. They moved to California where they resided for 24 years. He loved to travel across the country, especially the family's yearly visit to Trinity Alps Resort. Many summers were spent driving in the family station wagons, a.k.a. "The Red Fridge" and "Wonder Wagon" to see such sights as the Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, and many more. After raising his three daughters and sending them to Gonzaga University he moved to Spokane, WA. He loved nature, especially watching the birds make use of the bird houses he built for his backyard. Last year, Edmund and Maureen moved to University Place, WA to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. During the last years of his life, he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, travelling to Hawaii and Florida, and enjoying a glass of red wine with his wife on his sunny deck. Edmund was a devoted family man. He loved his wife "more than a peanut butter sandwich," and took great pride in his daughters and their families. He was loved and admired by many and he will be greatly missed. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 7:00p.m. at Gaffney Funeral Home, 1002 S. Yakima Ave. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 12:00pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 N J St, Tacoma, WA with reception to follow.
