Edith B (Brodsky) Jaffe

October 29, 1926 — February 15, 2017

Obituary The world lost one of the kindest, most non-judgmental and loving souls anyone could ever have known, Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Edith Jaffe was a true Tacoma matriarch, born and raised in her beloved city, Edith entered this world on October 29, 1926 to Phil and Anne Brodsky "small enough to ït into a cigar box" as she loved to let everybody know joining her older sisters Dorothy (Maier) and Gladys (Skorman). She met the love of her life, her prince, Morrie Jaffe, on a blind date and they were engaged after only 3 weeks, marrying in November 1946. They were inseparable for over 60 years until Morrie's death in February 2009. She taught all of us the true meaning of loving each other "in sickness and in health". Edith had 3 children Sandi Rowe (Kevin) of Richland, Wa., Steven (Susan), and Jerry (Janni) of Palm Desert, Ca. Edith was a lifelong member of Tacoma Beth El, she proudly served on the boards of the Temple Sisterhood and Hadassah. Edith worked at her family's business, Brodsky's Uniforms, which was operated by her father, husband and 2 sons. Brodsky's Uniforms was a long time established Tacoma icon for over 90 years. Edith's greatest passion was her family. She always found the positive in all people and life situations. She was preceded in death by her husband Morrie; infant daughter; son Steven and his wife Susan; nephew Dr. Charles Maier; her parents; sisters and loving dachshund Rosie. She is survived by her daughter Sandi (Kevin) and son Jerry (Janni), and her grandchildren Brian, Joel, Stephanie, Stephen, Nicole and 14 great-grandchildren. Interment will be held Sunday, February 19th at 1:00 at Home of Peace Cemetery, 5421 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, Wa. 98499. Shlaf gezunt Grandma Ewiff.
