Obituary Dorothy M. Gleason Dorothy passed away on September 11, 2005. She was born on February 19, 1911 in Camrose, Alberta. The third of eight children born to Charles Borromeo and Julia Anna (Heisler) Eltrich, Dorothy was taught by the Sisters of the Assumption until the family moved to Shelton, WA and later to Tacoma. She graduated from St. Leo's Academy in 1930. Upon graduation she was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until her marriage to Clyde W. Gleason on December 31, 1946. Clyde and Dorothy resided in Dubuque, where she was an active volunteer in her local and faith communities. She enjoyed artistic pursuits such as sewing, painting and ceramics while raising their three daughters. Her strong faith and loving spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. Upon her husband's death in 1985, Dorothy returned to Tacoma with her daughter Pat. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, brother Martin Eltrich, sisters Jeanne Eltrich and Julietta (Clarence) Roth. She is survived by two sisters: Marcella Burrows and Helen Eltrich, two brothers, Raymond Eltrich and Francis (Madeline) Eltrich, three daughters: Patricia Gleason of Tacoma, Kathleen (Ted) Sand of Poway, CA, and Sheila (Rick) Gibson of Cedar Rapids, IA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Vigil Service will be at 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 15th at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7112 South 12th Street, Tacoma. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 16th at 11:00 am at St. Charles, with reception immediately following. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of St. Joseph Hospital and Tacoma Lutheran Home for their compassionate care and support.
