Obituary Dorothy (Klinge) Bichsel passed on Monday March 16 at the age of 92 of congestive heart failure. It's hard to recall Dorothy without seeing that beautiful smile that always graced her face. It revealed the soul of a warm, wonderful woman who was loved by many and liked by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Like a welcome blanket, Dorothy wrapped her generous spirit around family, friends and strangers alike. The home and tavern she owned with her late husband were havens to many. Dorothy gave and received love easily. We will never forget her annual New Years Eve parties. Dorothy, who was simply Dot to many, was born on New Years Eve, 1916 in Spokane, WA. She was the only daughter of Herman and Wilomina (Rudolph) Klinge and will be greatly missed and always remembered by her surviving daughter, Glenadine Hoglund and daughter-in-law Norma Bichsel; her grandchildren Susan Raftery (Mike), Jack Hoglund, Sam Rust, and Sally Mix (Walt); and her great-grandchildren Michael and Alicia Raftery, Emma Mix, Jacqueline and Randy Hoglund, and Lindsay Rust. She will also be missed and forever in the hearts of her dearest friends, Laurie Tocher, and Lorene Fortner, and her large extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. (Bob), daughter Sally Jo Rust, sons Charles (McDowell) and Robert G. (Bobby), and grandchildren Richard and Robert Hoglund, brothers Willard, Dick, Charles and Gordon. She loved the outdoors, especially the beach, hunting (many trips to Canada and Alaska), fishing and clamming and she always had the biggest catch. She was always prepared for family and friends who visited with tuna casserole, apple pie, potato salad or spaghetti. Dorothy grew up in Dash Point where she was very athletic and always around the playground. She was the director of the Central Playfield in Tacoma. Dorothy and Bob owned Mac's Tavern in Federal Way and many other real estate properties in the complex. When she retired, she moved to Long Beach, Washington, until returning to Tacoma in 2004. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Gaffney's Funeral Home 1002 South Yakima, Tacoma, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by her brother-in-law Rev. Bill Bichsel, S.J. at Holy Cross Church in Tacoma Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. The family requests memorials to: Guadalupe House, 1417 S. "G" St., Tacoma, WA 98405.
