Donald Edward (Don) Sipes (Dad), passed unexpectedly on November 6, 2021. He was born October 23, 1930, in Lewiston, Idaho, and is survived by his wife, Carol, his children Cheri Bichsel (Bill), Steve Sipes, Sandy Rickett (Scott), Dave Sipes (Becky), and stepson Brian Eaton, his sister, Sally Riley, and twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is now reunited with his oldest son, Donny, his parents Morris and Mary, brothers Bob and Jim, and sister, Mardelle Pope.
Dad’s parents moved to Tacoma when dad was in grade school. He attended Holy Rosary school, Stewart Jr. High, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. After high school he joined the Air Force, stationed in Japan. Dad returned to Tacoma following his service bringing his first wife, Anita, and infant daughter. Together they had five children.
Dad was a master builder, learning his trade from his father. For over fifty years he ran the construction site of every home, church, apartment complex and commercial building built by Sipes. While he may have retired from running projects, he was never idle, as evident by his home and countless projects.
Dad’s life revolved around his family. They gave him purpose, and he gave them unconditional love. We were all so lucky, and his loss is immeasurable.
Dad will forever be in our hearts. His legacy lives on in his family and all the beautiful homes he built.
Due to Covid, a small family service will be held.
