Obituary Don Zemek 1934-2008 Don was born in Tacoma and attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Bellarmine Preparatory High School, where he was an award-winning marksman for the R.O.T.C. He was graduated magna cum laude from Gonzaga University with a Bachelor of Science degree and from Seattle University with a Master of Science degree, both in electrical engineering. Don worked for Westinghouse and Boeing, but spent the majority of his career at Simpson Tacoma Kraft. He started as an electrical engineer and worked his way up, holding several management positions, before retiring with 38 years of service. Don was an active member of his community, serving as a member of Rotary #8, on the board of directors for the Tacoma Symphony, as a Eucharistic minister and in the grief ministries at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, and as a participant on Simpson's Community Care Committee and in many other charitable activities. In addition to his community service, Don enjoyed fishing, skiing, golfing, and eating ice cream. He is survived by his wife Nancy; four children, Frank (Rossana), Susan (Kelly Smith), Linda Herseth (Brian), and Kristin Downing (Gary); and 10 grandchildren. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at St. Charles Borromeo, followed by a Funeral Mass, Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Don's name to the Franciscan Hospice House, P.O.
