Obituary Don died peacefully and went to our lord on October 25, 2006. Born October 23, 1924 in Tacoma, Washington, he was the son of Michael and Teresa Scalara. Growing up in the midst of the depression, Don had a love for cars that led him to found Century R.V., a hallmark of South Tacoma and a successful business that operated for fifty years. He treasured spending time with family, boating, entertaining friends, and working in the yard. In retirement, he enjoyed overseeing his properties at the office, but the highlight of these years was spending time with his grandsons. Don also had a high regard for education; for his daughter and grandsons, a college education was not an option, but a requirement that he supported. He has gone home now, into the presence of God, and it is in this that we find consolation. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; brother, John and sisters, Marion Shows and Jean Baird. He is survived by his daughter, Jamie (Gregg) Welch; grandsons, Barrett and Andrew Welch and many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 30, 2006, 10:30 am at St. Rita's Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Sunday, October 29, 2006, 6:00 pm also at St. Rita's. Entombment Calvary Cloisters. The family suggests memorials to St. Rita's Catholic Church.
