Obituary Dolores Insel Dolores Marie Insel passed away peacefully at the Franciscan Hospice House on June 5, 2010. She was born to Roy and Agnes Insel on February 2, 1938 and lived most of her life in the family's north Tacoma home. Dolores attended Holy Cross School and graduated from Aquinas Academy in 1956. She attended St. Martin's College and Pacific Lutheran University obtaining her teaching degree. Dolores spent 16 years teaching 7th and 8th grades at Holy Cross School where she later became Religious Education Coordinator for the the Parish. In 1979 she began work as Religious Education Director at Ft. Lewis where she continued until her retirement in 2008. Dolores will be remembered for her delightful sense of humor and her appreciation of the people she worked with over the years. She had several hobbies including reading, gardening, cooking and calligraphy. She had a long-standing love of dogs and enjoyed vacationing at the ocean. Dolores leaves behind her cousins Dawn Mitolo and her daughters Jodi, Jill and Joy, Diane Akins and her daughter Amy. She also leaves behind many friends but especially Helen Batie, Joan Durban and Sheila Pollock. A special thank you to the Franciscan House for their loving care to Dolores. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Wednesday, June 9, at 1p.m. with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Contributions in Dolores memory may be made to the Tacoma Humane Society.
