Obituary DIANA STRAIT Diana Strait was born November 29th, 1933 and passed to heaven June 10, 2006. Our most giving and loving Wife, Mother, friend and inspiration, transitioned to enter heaven to be at peace with God forever. Diana had the most vibrant personality and giving heart of any angel on earth. Diana overcame many obstacles in her life, always supporting and loving her family and being a devout Catholic. For over 52 years, Diana followed her husband Lindsy from the mountains of Colorado to the shadows of Mount Rainier in Lakewood, Washington. Diana raised two children, Lindsy Edward and Tina Diana, who both followed her example of hard work, discipline and devotion. Diana, who was born in Hong Kong, BCC, and her native language was Portuguese, also spoke English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hindustani. She was born to a British Customs Officer and a Portuguese Mother and married at the age of 20. Diana made it through two years of college before she decided to marry her gallant Prince and begin a family. Diana's adventures started when she was raised with house servants in a proper English family as a young girl, to being a refugee during World War II, to falling in love with her cowboy and sailor, Lindsy Dean Strait. She traveled to the mountains of Colorado to raise two young children, and then followed Lindsy's military career far and wide. During their 52 years together, the lived in many places; Long Beach, CA, Delta, CO, Chicago, Ft. Bliss Texas, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Ft. Benning, GA, Columbia, SC, Monterey, CA, Ft. Lewis, WA, Ft. Knox, KY, Milwaukee, WI, Dahlgren, VA, Ocean Shores, WA and Lakewood, WA. Diana always worked hard and was an entrepreneur at heart. She started a postal contract service company, a snack bar, a restaurant, and was even a runway model for a department store. Diana is always and forever kind and generous. She worked with schools, volunteered in her church, and was always an impeccable Lady and loving soul with total devotion to her family and her faith. When faced with a diagnosis of cancer and a six month prognosis, she began to fight for over 4 years displaying great strength and courage and never complaining as she underwent nine different chemo treatments and many clinical trials. On the final few months kept her off her feet and away from her pursuits and contributions. She always maintained her deep faith and set an example for all who met her. Dedication, kindness and longsuffering were typical of Diana. Diana leaves behind on earth her forever loving Prince and husband Maj. Lindsy Dean Strait, US Army, her son Maj. Lindsy Edward Strait, USMC, her beautiful daughter Tina Diana Woods, and her closest friend Terry McHone. Diana has two surviving sisters, Patricia Mattos in San Francisco and Sylvia Ship in New Haven, England. Always a devout wife, best friend and mother, Diana showed love to all, and all those who have had the pleasure to know her will never forget her. Diana is now watching over us all from her well deserved place in heaven. Rest peacefully our beautiful Diana till we meet again. Know we will keep and protect your memories forever in our hearts and soul. Diana will live on forever in the hearts of those who lover her and know her and they will keep her memory alive. Diana always care for others first to her last day on earth and chose giving the ultimate gift of her strength and love to all around her even unto her final moments in this world. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 16, 2006, 9:30 am at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 10508 - 112th St. SW, Lakewood, WA 98498 (253-582-1028). The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Parish Hall of St. John Bosco. Rosary will be recited prior to Mass at 9:15 am at the church. Interment will follow at 12:45 pm in the beautiful Tahoma National Cemetery, located at 18600 SW 240th St., Kent, WA 98042-4868 (425-413-9614). Maps to Tahoma will be available at St. John Bosco. The family is requesting that any donations anyone wishes to make, or in lieu of flowers, should be sent to St. John Bosco in memory of Diana Strait.
