Dawne Burkhouse

Dawne Althea Burkhouse was born March 13, 1922 in Walla Walla, Washington.  She is one of two children born to Rollo and Dorothy Johnson.  Dawne and William Joseph Burkhouse were married May 1, 1942 in Federal Way, Washington

Following is a glimpse into her 101 years of life, and the memories that touched so many of us.  The Burkhouse family moved around to various locations and found themselves in Santa Rosa, California in 1962.  This is where Dawne and William built the house that Dawne lived in for 57 years. At the age of 97 she moved to Gig Harbor, Washington to be closer to family.  She loved gardening and flowers, hiking, reading and spending time with her family. Her four sons were her pride and joy. She loved giraffes, and sipping merlot wine. She liked to take day trips with her friends where she enjoyed learning about new places.  She loved fires in her fireplace and to cook, especially casseroles.

Dawne passed away on April 22, 2023 at the age of 101 in Gig Harbor, Washington.  Dawne was pre-deceased by her daughters Christine, and Stacey Louise.  Dawne is survived by her children: David (married to Joan Brooks), Robert, John, and Kenneth (married to Kathy Coggan).  She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Michael, Nolan, Angela, John, Staci, Jacob, and Ashleigh.  Great-grandchildren: Courtnee, Conner, Sophie, Evan, Gage, Luke, and Eliana.

Dawne is being laid to rest alongside of William at Calvary Cemetery, 5212 70th St. West,  Tacoma, Washington 98467 on May 6, 2023.
