David “George” Lockhart
Passed away on February 16th at 92 years of age at home in Tacoma, WA. George was born in South Tacoma on February 14th, 1933. He graduated from Lincoln High School, and shortly after started his career at Tacoma Brace and Limb. His career of doing metal work in the Orthotics industry spanned over 4 decades. He married Sabina (Stumpf) Lockhart in 1965. They had two sons Steve and Andy, and were married for 59 years. George had polio at the age of 14, and wore a leg brace and walked with a cane most of his life, until he was forced to be in a wheelchair. He never let that stop him from enjoying life. He always focused on what he could do, and never worried about what he couldn’t physically do. He raced outboard boats in the 1950’s, and then started working on the propellers. He became recognized in the racing world as one of the best propeller makers in the nation. He also enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours hunting, fishing, and camping. Ask anyone that knew George, and they would say he always had a good joke on hand, and ready to tell!
George was survived by his wife Sabina Lockhart, Son Steve, and Daughter Paula Williams. Son Andy (passed).
