Obituary Christine Peterson died peacefully March 22, 2016 at her home in Huntington Beach, California surrounded by her three daughters. Christine was born December 25, 1924 on Vashon Island, Washington to Dragutin and Mary Beritich. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald C. Peterson in 2013, her sisters Bernice and Margaret and brother Mitchel. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Bond (Brian Johnston) of Long Beach, California, Lori Snarski (Bob) of Tacoma, Washington and Julie Bradley (Rick) of Huntington Beach, California, her granddaughters Lauren Johnson, Angela Snarski, Emily and Amy Bradley. Chris is also survived by her brothers Nicholas Beritich and Anone Beritich along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Christine grew up in Dockton, Washington with her brothers, sisters and cousins swimming, berry picking, clam digging, boating and enjoying the close-knit community of island life. She graduated from Vashon High School in 1942. After graduation, she moved to Tacoma and helped with the war effort as a secretary in the Naval Shipyards. During the 1940's, Chris lived in Hawaii for two years and also in San Francisco. She met and married Donald Peterson, who was a pilot in the Air Force, on May 7. 1949 and resided in Manhattan Beach, California. They lived in several cities in southern California the last forty of which spent in Huntington Beach. Chris worked for the school system for several years and the jewelry department at Mervyn's until she retired in 1987. She was always ready for adventure. She and Don traveled extensively during the early years of their marriage with the Air Force. When their daughters were young, the family spent most summers in Washington State. In their retirement years, they took their motor home all over the United States to pilot conventions and to visit relatives. Chris and her daughter Julie traveled several summers to Europe, Ireland, Greece and the Holy Land. She was married 64 years to Don. Most of all she loved her daughters, granddaughters and sons-in-law. We will all miss her very much. Love you, Mom! Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home.
