Obituary Chiyeko Tadaye Kawasaki Chiyeko Tadaye Kawasaki passed away peacefully on January 7, 2010 at Tacoma General Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 88 years of age. Tadaye, also known as "Teddy," was born on November 2, 1921 and lived the majority of her life in Tacoma. She graduated from Stadium High School in 1940, then ran the family dry cleaning business and attended business college until her family's forced internment during WWII. Upon her return to Tacoma after the war, Teddy and her husband, Leo, owned and operated Capital Cleaners until their retirement in 1991. Teddy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leo Kawasaki; sons, Gary Kawasaki (Shirley Naganawa) and Mark Kawasaki; daughters, Ann Kawasaki Romero (Rocco) and Joy Walton Kawasaki (Bruce); grandchildren, Tedi and A.J.; sisters, Yoshiko Sugiyama and Kimiko Tanbara (George); as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Masataka and Mitsu Fujimoto.
