Obituary C. Donald Johnson 1/27/1915 - 9/11/2014 Don Johnson, 99 passed away after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. He now joins his wife of 62 years, Adair. Don was born and raised in Tacoma WA. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1933. At LHS, Don lettered in three sports: football, basketball and was the captain of the golf team. He continued his love of golf while working as a caddy and playing in local tournaments. He won many tournaments and was a "scratch golfer". He attended Whitman College on a golf scholarship and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was drafted into the Army in 1942. He fought in the South Pacific during WWII. After he returned from the war, he met and married the love of his life, Adair Buckley. They were married at Saint Patrick Parish in 1947 and raised six children. Don worked as a truck driver for Intercity Auto Freight and Federal Transfer. He retired in 1977. Dad will be missed for his brutal honesty, his quick wit and his ability to build and fix anything. He spent many years coaching youth baseball for the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) and in later years enjoyed watching all of his children and grandchildren in their many sporting activities. What Dad cherished most was his family. He looked forward to the many (large) family gatherings and spending time with his loved ones. He will be greatly missed. Don was preceded in death by his wife Adair, son Kirk and his brother Bud (Francis) Johnson. He is survived by his children, Craig, Kevin (Denise), Cary (Robin), Kay (Mark), Krissy (Pete), 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. We would like to thank Kathleen Magonigle, ARNP for her amazing care and compassion, Allenmore Hospital, and the Franciscan Hospice House. At his request a family service will only be held.
