Carolyn Lucille (Connell) Kurriger

Born Dec.15, 1934 in Muscatine, IA, Carolyn died peacefully at home in Tacoma, WA on Dec. 14. She grew up in Muscatine with her siblings, Thomas, Catherine, David and Mary. Went to school at St. Mathius, worked as an evening receptionist at Bellevue Hospital and later worked on the advertising desk at the Muscatine Journal. Married the love of her life, Francis (Frank) Kurriger nearly 67 years ago. She moved to Tacoma in 1963 where she and Frank fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. In her younger days, Carolyn loved community theater and particularly enjoyed musicals. She was also an accomplished seamstress and quilter as well as a knitter and crocheter. She loved traveling and hiking throughout the United States with her husband in his retirement, and she has left many wonderful stories with the family regarding her adventures.

Carolyn is survived by husband, Francis (Frank) Kurriger and their four children, Christine (Theodore) Olson, Virginia Kurriger, Katherine Kurriger, and Timothy (DiAnna) Kurriger, and her brother and sister, David Connell of Davenport, IA and Sister Catherine Connell of Encino, CA. Surviving grandchildren are Ann (David) von Moritz, Sara (Ethan) Lazar, Amanda Kurriger, Andrew Olson, and Erin Olson. Surviving great-grandchildren are Adelais and Mariele von Moritz. Carolyn is preceded in death by parents, Cornelius and Lucille Connell, and siblings, Thomas Connell and Mary Stoutenburg.

Rosary will be recited at 6pm on December 28, 2022 at Gaffney Funeral Home, Tacoma, WA. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on December 29, 2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Tacoma WA. Reception at the church immediately following the service.
