Carol Milgard

April 12, 1937 — May 24, 2007

Obituary Carol Berry Milgard Was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 and is now at peace and in the arms of her best friend and love of her life. Carol had a strong faith and was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lakewood and is now in the presence of her Savior. She was born to Harry and Florence Berry on April 12, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington. Carol graduated from Stadium High School and attended the University of Washington where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She touched the lives of so many with her enthusiasm, great spirit and love for her country. She is survived by her children, Cari (Paul), Lori (Anthony), and Mark; five grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Gee Locke (Les), brother-in-law, Jim Milgard (Carolyn), six nieces and nephews, and her many adoring friends. Her true passion was giving back to the community that she felt supported her throughout her life. She was "crazy" about children and was passionate about providing a better life for those less fortunate. Her philanthropic legacy will continue through the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation that she and her late husband, Gary, and her three children established in 2000. One of Carol's proudest accomplishments was establishing the MG/CAT (Matching Gift/Community Action Team) at Milgard Windows. To this day, the program contributes to numerous communities throughout the United States where Milgard has its locations. Carol had an enormous amount of energy which led to her participation in Boys & Girls Club, Charles Wright Academy, University of Washington - Tacoma, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, Hoover Institute, Neiska, and Junior League of Tacoma. She was a member of the Tacoma Country and Golf Club, The Vintage Club in Indian Wells, California, and the Lakewood Racquet Club. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 2 at Stadium High School (111 North E Street, Tacoma) in the gymnasium at 2:00 pm. Remembrances may be made to the Carol B. Milgard Memorial Fund at the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound at 1501 Pacific Avenue, Suite 301, Tacoma, WA 98402.
