Cali Noel Hall

December 19, 1996 — September 6, 2017

Obituary Cali Noel was born in Tacoma, Washington on December 19, 1996, and was found deceased on September 6, 2017 in Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 20 years old. Cali was a beautiful, energetic, adventurous, helpful, wonderful child and young woman. Growing up was filled with a never ending desire to be active, always wanting to do something physical, and in particular anything outdoors. She loved the winter snow, the summer sun, the water, hiking, listening to music, baking cookies, and playing goalie on a number of soccer teams as her favorite sports activity. Despite the apparent normalcy of her life to many, hers was a conflicted and often contradictory life, with much happiness and many struggles. It was filled with both healthy activities and unhealthy addictions. Addictions that ran the spectrum from alcohol to illicit drugs, and were compounded by bouts of commonly associated behavioral health issues. Cali's high school years were among some of the most difficult of her life, yet she had several stretches of time where she succeeded in her fight with her personal strength of healthy living, boundaries, and sobriety, and graduated from Life Christian Academy in June 2015. Cali was a very loving and capable young woman, as well as a prideful one. Shortly after graduation, she chose a path of independence from her family and the steady support provided to her for her sobriety. Ultimately, her struggles and the addictions took hold of her, and her life. Cali your death will be a constant reminder for our family and your friends of the suffering and aloneness that addiction brings, and that the last "goodbye" may truly be the last one. The struggles have finally ended for you and you are now at peace. In time, our grief will be replaced by refreshed memories of you and the joy you brought to so many people in your life. Despite it all, know that you were loved deeply and wholly. Yours was a sad ending to a life with so much potential and possibility. We will never forget you and will miss you until our own last breath. Cali is survived by her parents, Sophia and John; her adoring and loving sisters, Chanel (Dave) Lowe, Cecilia, and Katie; her privately loving brother, Joe, and Ben; and her dog O'Hana. She is also survived by her grandparents, Jerry (Papa-Peanut as Cali called him) and Germaine (Mama) Korum; her Auntie Sonja (Curtis) Campbell; and many great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from around the globe. If you have loved ones fighting addiction, do everything possible to be supportive and to guide them to rehabilitation before it is too late. Cali had dreams of a future career, children of her own, and fought hard but couldn't break the chains of this demon that's wiping out so many of our youth. Addiction doesn't discriminate; it will take hold and destroy anyone in its path, including the families and people who love them. Addiction hides in the faces of everyday people all around us. Cali isn't just another statistic or just "another one gone too soon," she had a great heart with a bright future and a gift that the world lost and can never be replaced. So the best way to honor Cali is for people who read this or knew her to think twice before you judge an addict or their families who are doing their best to keep them healthy and alive.
