Bridget Teresa Doherty-Adams passed away suddenly after a short and acute illness. She was 46 years old. Bridget was born at Madigan Hospital in Tacoma, Washington on November 4th, 1977. She passed quietly and peacefully on the evening of May 6th, 2024, also in Tacoma. At the moment she stepped into Heaven, she was in the close company of her mother Glenda, her son Kellan, her husband Ken, her sister Meg, her brother Tom, and her lifelong friend Andrea.
Bridget grew up an Army brat, spending some time in Europe as a younger child before her family moved back and settled in the Puget Sound area. She graduated from North Thurston High School in Lacey, WA, and went on to attend college at Western Washington University where she earned her bachelor’s degree.
Bridget was no stranger to the hospital. As a young adult she developed Crohn’s disease and had a multitude of surgeries. She persevered through major changes to her body that included having to continue life with an ostomy bag. I’ve never seen a person handle such a condition with such grace as Bridget did. Her son, Kellan, was born in November of 2001, right in the midst of many of these surgeries.
Bridget and her young family settled into the Puyallup, WA area where she and her previous husband Shaine raised Kellan. In late 2013, Bridget met her current husband, Ken, and they married in August of 2021. Bridget and Ken have been living in University Place, WA for the past 7 years.
Bridget was a loyal Catholic. She loved her son fiercely and didn’t leave his side when he also dealt with a difficult health issue in 2020. She worked in logistics, which suited her constantly-churning brain and propensity to be ever-moving. She was lovingly called Fidgety Bridgety by her husband, Ken. Bridget adored her family, and fortunately was able to pay them a visit just recently when she was travelling for work. Bridget enjoyed her exercise, either running or attending her Barre class. She was an avid reader and listened to a wide range of music. She and Ken were two peas in a pod. They enjoyed pursuing the McMenamins Hotel & Restaurant passport stamps and attending sporting events and concerts together. In the quieter moments, Bridget and Ken would sit contently near each other doing their own thing, or playing Cribbage, simply soaking in each other’s company. Bridget offered her stunning smile and loving personality to so many people in this world unconditionally. She was as authentic a human you might ever be fortunate enough to meet.
Bridget is survived by her Mother Glenda, her son, Kellan, her older brother Tom, and older sisters Meg and Mary. She joined her late father Thomas in heaven on the day of her passing.
Service for Bridget will be Monday May 13th at St. Charles Borromeo at 11:00AM. 7112 S. 12th St. Tacoma, WA 98465.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to a charity that is meaningful to you in Bridget’s name.
(Respectfully, not Planned Parenthood).
