Brenda Colombini

August 30, 1920 — August 2, 2012

Obituary Brenda "Peggy" Colombini August 30, 1920 - August 2, 2012 Mom was born in Bristol, England to Joseph and Emily Habgood, lived in Nanaimo, British Columbia and settled in Midland, WA for her childhood. Peggy graduated from Lincoln High School, Tacoma, WA in 1938 where she met and later married Robert Colombini in 1941. During WW II, while Bob served in the U.S. Army, and after, Mom's main responsibility and joy was raising her three children as truly a part of ‘The Greatest Generation.' She later returned to work at Rhodes Dept. Store in the hats and handbags department. In retirement Peggy enjoyed numerous trailer trips, adventures at Kalaloch, hosting trailer club parties, working the blue gate at the Puyallup Fair, Reno vacations and countless hours of knitting for her grandchildren. Peggy's personality was pure kindness. Friends, neighbors, medical staff, and folks at Fred Meyer and Trader Joe's would often say, "Your mom is one of our favorite people!" Never a complainer, her positive attitude was what we all loved. Although very British, after marrying her beloved Italian, she became an excellent Italian cook thanks to her mother-in-laws mentoring and recipes. Her greeting was often, "You look hungry, let me fix you something to eat." Visits to grandma's always included a plate of spaghetti, perpets and a big piece of apple pie or pastry with whipped cream. Peggy lived her wonderful life for almost 92 years. She celebrated 70 years of marriage with Bob. She is also survived by; her brother Joe Habgood (Theresa), brother-in-law Glenn Kimball, daughter Darlene (Hans) Boysen, son Perry (Sandy) Colombini, son David (K.J.) Colombini, grandchildren; Mindy, Aaron (Christi),Tony (Anna), Nick (Livia), Andrew, Neil, Grant and great-grand children; Alysha, Emily, Luca and Etta. As instructed, all promise to watch over Bob! Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, August 8th, 11am at St. Ann's Catholic Church, preceded by the Rosary at 10am. Donations in Peggy's honor may be made to The Tacoma Rescue Mission.
