Betty Lou Fleischmann

Obituary Betty Fleischmann Betty Fleischmann, 93, a life time Tacoma resident, died January 9, 2019. Betty graduated from Stadium High School, received her Associates degree from Tacoma Catholic College and her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Puget Sound. After finishing her degree, she began her elementary school teaching career that spanned more than 30 years, with maternity breaks for her 6 children. She taught at several schools including Fawcett, Franklin, Oakland, Wainwright and Weyerhaeuser. Betty enjoyed teaching so much that she continued substitute teaching for more than 5 years after retiring. She was also active in her church, St Leo's, and taught CCD at St Charles. Her greatest achievement was that of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Betty's husband of nearly 50 years, Jim Fleischmann, preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jim Jr.(Beth), Stanwood; Mary McGahan (Ric, deceased), Port Angeles; Sharon Hobson (Chris), Shelton; Charley (Carol Caldwell), New Zealand; Frances (Sam Trolinder), Tacoma; Anne Prewitt (Ron), Chuigiak, AK; and grandchildren and their spouses Josephine Shannon (Brandon); Christopher (Jacqui), Amanda (Mike Handy), and Natalie Hobson, Conrad and Catherine Fleischmann, Nick, Chris, and James Badger, R.D., Adam, Sara, and Alex Prewitt, Nick Slone and great grandchildren Jake, Emma, and Olivia Hobson. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 21, 2019, 10:00 am at St Leo's Catholic Church. interment at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home
