Obituary We were blessed to learn the many valuable lessons from Betty (Kominski) Chipps, 85. She believed in faith and family first, always carry mint lifesavers, and butter can make a dish better. Betty came into this world on November 4, 1932, as the third child to Joseph and Mary Kominski of McKenna, WA, and passed away in Puyallup on July 30. As a young girl, she enjoyed life with her large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She graduated from Yelm High School in 1950 and began work as a secretary for the Boeing Company. Betty met a young navel pilot, Harold Eugene Chipps of Puyallup, and they married in 1954. They began their life together in San Diego, CA, where Harold's squadron was stationed. They had two children, Suzan and James. Upon Harold's untimely death, Betty retuned to Puyallup to be near her family with her two young children in 1957. Betty was the first secretary for both All Saints School and All Saints Parish. She worked for twenty-seven different priests until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of All Saints Church, All Saints Alter Society and a Saint Francis House board member and volunteer. As a devout Catholic, Betty served those in need in the local community with a meal "every third Tuesday of the month" and Christmas Day dinner for twenty-one years. Food and gatherings were an essential part of Betty's life. There wasn't a turkey too large for her to stuff, a Polish mean she couldn't create, or an extra serving she couldn't convince one to eat. She magically could fit an extra dozen to her already full table of family, friends and guests, which often included the current priest. She loved clam digging, camping traveling with her sisters and friends, a Christmas tree packed with a ridiculous number of gifts, family time at "Betty Cove" on Lake Tanwax, and a good Manhattan with lots of ice. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother Joey. She is survived by her two sisters, Ramona Meek and Josephine O' Halloran, Children, Suzan (Keneth) Chipps- Freeman and Jim (Tamara) Chipps. She spoiled her grandchildren, Emily (McKenzie) Hansell, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Howe, Madeline (Greg) Buchanan, Daniel Chipps- Freeman, Anthony (Cassidy) Freeman, and nine great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Eloise, Claire, Lilly, Cora, Ellis, Penelope, Olivia, and Sloan whom she adored. Betty's family wishes to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Hospital, MultiCare infusion Center, Rainier Hematology-Oncology, Rainer Nephrology, Dr. McCroskey, Thavi Thatch PA, Dr. Wang, and dear friends, especially Margaret O'Neil, For all of their wonderful care and compassion. Betty was proud of her Polish heritage. Her Family and friend will raise their glasses in honor of her remarkable life with the Polish toast, "Na Zdrowie" (to your health)).
