Obituary Bertha Marie "Bert" Baker Bertha was born Aug. 8, 1917 and died March 4, 2012 in Tacoma. Bertha came to Washington from Brainerd, MN in 1939. Bertha was preceded in death by husband Paul. She is survived by sisters Lorraine Oelrich and Hildegard Salzbrun, children Robert (Elsa) Baker, Bernadette (Jerry) Simurdak, Cecilia (Joseph) Baldassari, Monica Howard, Paula Wagner, Guy (Karen) Baker, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was a hard working homemaker. Bertha was a devoted Catholic and served the Lord in many ways. She was generous to both family and friends. Bertha was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all. Famous for her simple quotes, a family favorite was "Music is the only gift from God we take to Heaven". Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 12, 2012, 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 11, 2012, 7:00 pm at the Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel with viewing beginning at 4:00 pm. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
