Bernard Eugene Goetz

April 15, 1959 — January 27, 2011

Obituary An Angel Among Us Bernie Goetz, age 51, was taken by the Lord January 27, 2011 to be reunited with his Mom and Dad, Florence and Henry Goetz. At 3 days old Bernie was placed in the loving care of Florence and Henry, who were the only parents he knew his whole life. It was love at first sight for Florence, even though she was told he was unlikely to live through the week. With much love and nurturing, Bernie proved the doctors wrong and lived an Amazing 51 years. Bernie had an unwavering faith in God. He loved to go to church and always looked forward to belting out his favorite church hymns. He loved getting together for our large family gatherings and could always be counted on to entertain us with cute jokes, hilarious impersonations and his love of singing. His other passion was Big Time Wrestling. He knew all the wrestlers and lived to go to the live matches. He always kept in his pocket an updated list of the ever changing good guys vs bad guys roster. He would read all the newest wrestling magazines cover to cover. He proudly graduated from Foss High School in 1980. He worked for Center Force for 30 years. Over the years he made lots of friends, including special lady friends Sandi and Kelly. He so looked forward to his work social functions and holiday parties because Bernie LOVED to dance! To say Bernie was special to our family is an understatement. He was adored by his family and everyone who came into contact with him fell instantly in love with his warm and loving personality. He leaves a big hole in our hearts and will be truly missed by all. Yet, we rejoice in knowing he is reunited with Mom and Dad and sister Helen Nation, all of whom preceded him in death. He leaves behind his sisters and brothers Rose (Bill) Sanders, Judy (Byron) Gilman, Hank (Ann) Goetz, and Joseph Goetz - all of Tacoma, and Bill (Wanda) Gates, Robert (Sandra) Gates, and Ester (Knute) Nelson - all of Wisconsin, as well as 190 nephews and nieces who loved him dearly. Bernie was an organ donor. Because of his giving nature, four people will have a second chance at life. Viewing will be held at Gaffney Funeral Home Friday, 2/4/2011 from 10am - 5pm, and a service will be held on Saturday, 2/5/2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 34th and Tacoma Ave. S., with a Rosary at 10:15 and the funeral service at 11am.
