Barbara June Stemp

Obituary Barbara June Stemp Barbara was born in Aberdeen, WA. August 14, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Dolly Gagne and her sister Julie Lyda. Her family lived in Bellingham and Olympia before moving to Tacoma where she graduated from Lincoln High in 1944. Barb met the love of her life Stan Stemp at a St. Peter and Paul Church dance. They were married February 15th, 1947. Stan and Barb celebrated 66 years of marriage in 2012. After Stan passed in May 2013, Barb enjoyed her last two years with new and old friends at Narrows Glenn retirement home. Barb lived a long and full life, enjoying cooking, baking, and entertaining for her large circle of friends and family. She and Stan traveled extensively with close friends throughout the world. She cherished her relationships through her various clubs and groups. Barbs dedication and commitment to her family was unsurpassed. Her greatest pride and joy in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader and never missed an opportunity to see them perform in a concert, sports activity, or special event. Barbs pride in her grandkids beamed out of her, and she was always eager to tell anyone who would listen to the stories of their accomplishments. Barb is survived by her three children: Dr. Larry Stemp, D.C., Steve (Jan), and Elizabeth Hayford (Jeff). She is dearly loved and will be missed by her grandchildren David, Brian, Jon, Dusty, Hilary, Jordan, Kate and Mekenzie and 11 great grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 7:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Burial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery Chapel on 74th and Lakewood Dr., Saturday June 13th at 12:00pm. For those who wish to share stories about Barb there will be coffee and conversation at Tacoma Country Club following the service.
