Obituary Anne McElwee-Barkley Barbara "Anne" Barkley died on February 21, 2008 after a courageous fight with colon cancer. She was born June 25, 1944 in Binghamton, New York to Charles and Dorothy McElwee. She graduated from Binghamton Central High School and received an Associates of Arts degree from Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, DC. She worked as an Executive Secretary before marrying Steve Barkley in 1973 and became a devoted homemaker, mom and grandmother. She enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren, gardening, knitting, golf, the Seattle Mariners and spending summers at the family cottage on Farley's Point, on Cayuga Lake in New York State. She will be missed by her husband of 35 years, Steve, their son Michael (Andrea) and their children Elise Marie and Tyler Charles. She is predeceased by her parents and is survived by her sisters, Lynne Brittan (Rob) of San Diego, Phyllis DeSpain (Larry) and sons Kevin and Kent of San Francisco, and Nancy Kovacs (Andy) and daughters Emily and Robin of Georgetown, Canada as well as a brother Charles "Chip" (Karen) of Binghamton, New York and their daughter Allison. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 11:00AM at the Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 7:00PM also at the Funeral Home Chapel. The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Franciscan Hospice P.O Box 1502, Tacoma WA 98401.
