Obituary Antone Peter Katich Antone was born on October 5, 1926 to Mary and Mike Katich who preceded him in death. He passed away peacefully on April 11, 2009. Antone grew up in Gig Harbor and followed his father into commercial fishing at the age of 16. He fished commercially for salmon in Puget Sound, the Salmon Banks, and Southeast Alaska for 55 years, and worked for Pacific Coast Oil and Lilyblad Petroleum during the off-season. Antone is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Gagliardi. They would have celebrated 56 years of marriage on April 18th. He is also survived by son Peter and his wife Liz; daughter Mary Rickert and her husband Barry and grandson and granddaughter Nicholas and Jenna Katich. He will be missed by a large extended family, including several cousins. He attended Gig Harbor High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the icebreaker "Northwind" on which he crossed the Arctic Circle in 1952. He was a member of the Gig Harbor Fisherman's Club, the Slavonian-American Benevolent Society and St. Patrick's Parrish. He loved dinners with his family and his wife Evie's Banana Cream Pie. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, April 17, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1122 North "J" Street. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.
