Obituary ANTON F. LISICICH July 2, 1915 B May 25, 2010 Anton F. Lisicich, 94, passed away on Tuesday, May 25th, surrounded by his family. Anton was born and raised and lived his entire life in Old Tacoma. He was the oldest of four children, born to Visko and Vinka Lisicich, who were immigrants from Croatia to the United States. He was preceded in death by his brother Pete and sister Amelia, and is survived by his sister Helen Kokich He attended Lowell Elementary School, Jason Lee Junior High School, and Lincoln and Stadium High Schools. As a child he was always intrigued by mechanical and electronic devices. As a teenager he followed his father's footsteps and became the engineer on his father's commercial fishing boat, the Helen L. He traveled to Northern California to fish sardines in the winter and to the San Juan Islands to fish for salmon in the summer. However due to a back injury at the age of 21 years, he had to give up fishing. He attended Knapp's Business College in Tacoma and during his schooling he met, fell in love with, and married his lifelong partner, Evelyn Murphy. They were married for 63 years. After graduating with a degree in business administration, he began working for the Internal Revenue Service in Tacoma. He was a loyal employee of the IRS for 30 years, and retired at the young age of 62 years. After retirement, Anton became the best family handyman in all of Old Tacoma. He loved to take things apart and fix them, always at his pace B slow and methodical. In addition, Anton and his sister Helen routinely provided income tax filing service for many of their friends and relatives in the Tacoma area for over 30 years. Anton and Evelyn also liked to travel by train to Minnesota to see her relatives and family as well as to California to see Anton's friends and fishing buddies. Anton and Evelyn had three children, Terri (Rex) Dillashaw, Tonietta Lisicich, and John (Sharon) Lisicich. They were also blessed with six grandchildren, Windie Steffen, Larry (Liz) Huffines, Heather (Matt Williams) Huffines, Meghan Lisicich, Donald and Daniel Dillashaw, as well as twelve great grandchildren, Cole, Haley, Avery, and Lane Steffen, Annika and Larry Huffines, Danielle, Devin, Jared, Ben, and Isabella Dillashaw, and Evelyn Kartini. Most of their children and grandchildren live in the Tacoma area, so they could see and visit one another frequently. Although he is physically gone, we will never forget our wonderful father, grandfather, and uncle Anton. The family would like to thank Dr. James Fry, Franciscan Hospice, and Good Samaritan Home Health. Funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 North J Street, in Tacoma, at 10:00AM on Friday, June 4, 2010. Gaffney Funeral Home is making the arrangements.
