Anne Kathleen Chambers passed away on October 4, 2024 in Seattle, at age 70, surrounded by her family. She was born in Houston, Texas on April 25, 1954 to Donald and Frances (Sullivan)
Gormley and grew up outside of Chicago with her three sisters and two brothers, graduating from Arlington Heights High School in 1972. While attending Texas Women’s University in
Denton, Texas, she met Jack Chambers, whom she married on August 17, 1974 in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1976 and began her career in
education in Dallas, Texas. Once she and Jack started a family, she spent much of her time raising her three children, Michael, Brian, and Erin in Carrolton, Texas, Pueblo, Colorado, Spokane, Washington, and Puyallup, Washington. She returned to the classroom in 1989 and spent the next 26 years as a special education teacher and administrator in the Puyallup, Marysville, University Place, Tacoma, and Enumclaw school districts. She retired from her education career in 2015 after being diagnosed with leukemia and receiving a bone marrow transplant and spent the rest of her time loving her family.
Anne loved being outdoors. She liked hiking, running, biking, cross-country skiing, and gardening. When she was indoors, she enjoyed reading and watching classic movies. Anne’s faith was very important to her, and she was involved in many ministries at the parishes she attended. She deeply valued her countless lifelong friendships and was beloved by many people. What she enjoyed most, though, was spending time with her eight grandchildren: Jack, Olivia, Molly, Maggie, Harrison, Everett, Adelaide, and Arthur.
Anne is survived by her husband, Jack; her sons Michael (Kate) and Brian (Erin) Chambers; her daughter Erin (Mike) Bakke; her eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her
five siblings: Terry, Meg, Mary, Kevin, and Patrick. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Frances Gormley.
Anne was beautiful, loving, kind, generous, and selfless – always putting others before herself. We love her and miss her tremendously.
