Anne Margaret Barkley

September 11, 1925 — February 3, 2014

Obituary Anne Margaret Barkley Born September 11, 1925 in Oakview, Colorado, "Grandma Anne" passed away peacefully Monday, February 3, 2014 in Tacoma. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Theodore; and parents, Frank and Sophie Cekado. She is survived by her sons, Dan (Jill), Ken, Bob (Kimberly); five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Following graduation from Fife High School, Anne worked as an accountant for the Tacoma Boat Company and Sears. Anne enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with her family in spite of the mobility challenges and health issues that had become a constant struggle for her in recent years. The family would like to express their gratitude to her neighbors, especially Brigitte Nikolai, whose special friendship and caring made it possible for Anne to fulfill her goal of remaining in the house in Fern Hill where she had raised her three sons and proudly called home for 60 years. In the past several months, Anne reminded us how much she missed Ted and looked forward to being with him again. Her prayers have been answered. Give Dad a hug for us Mom. At her request, a private graveside service will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 3:00pm at Calvary Cemetery with reception following at the Barkley home. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to your favorite charity in Anne's name. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home, 253-572-6003.
