Obituary Ann Lloyd Burris Ann Lloyd Burris, 96, born in 1919 in Little Rock Arkansas, passed away at home with family on April 14, 2015. She grew up on East Texas Oil fields and boarding schools in San Antonio. She graduated from St. Gerard's day school as a co-valedictorian. She then attended Draughon Business College. Her career in San Antonio spanned Fisher Lumber Company, Ewing Real Estate Banking, Kelly and Duncan Fields as a buyer for the Department of Defense during World War II. She also worked in Washington D.C. for The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (now known as NASA). After the war ended she moved to San Francisco to sell war assets for the U.S. Government. It was here that an old beau she had met at Kelly Field (Roland Burris of Seattle) came and proposed to her. She accepted and moved to the Pacific Northwest. They first lived in Ballard and then moved to Tacoma and have called it home for 67 years. She and Roland were married for 50 years before he passed away. Her hobbies included traveling, swimming, dancing, walking, playing piano and cards. She was a passionate volunteer at Holy Rosary Church and School. Her family always came first. She cared for and guided 3 generations. Highlight of the family was a Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Ann until she was 92. Ann truly made a difference on this earth. Her motto was "How may I help?" She is survived by her children: Bruce (Mary Lynne), Byron (Paula), Charles (Celeste), Mary (Paul) LaMarche, Joan (Bill) Fitzpatrick; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and 2 nephews. A special thanks to Joan, Bill, Charles, Mary, Elizabeth, Alicia, Marina and Kim for their loving care the past year. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Holy Rosary Church. A Rosary will be recited prior to Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery followed by a reception. The family suggests memorials to Holy Rosary School. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
