Obituary Allen Peters passed away December 3rd at his home in Tacoma, where he lived for 68 years. He was born in Mosby, Montana on April 23rd, 1919. Allen's wife of 67 years, Betty Jo Strange Peters, preceded him in death in 2010. He is survived by his son Dr. Dale Peters and wife Julie Peters of Yuma, Arizona, daughter Sally Jo Bose and husband Ken of Tacoma, Washington. He has 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Allen served in the Army Air Corp during WW II as a P38 fighter pilot flying out of England. He flew 57 daytime combat missions over Germany and occupied France. He earned the rank of Lieutenant and numerous medals for meritorious service in combat. Allen enjoyed his lifelong love of hunting, fishing, golf, and gardening during his retirement from the Federal Aviation Administration where he served as an air traffic controller. Committal services will be held Friday, December 14th, 11:00 A.M. at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent followed by a memorial service at Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma beginning at 2:30 P.M. Family and friends can attend either or both services. The family wants to thank Franciscan Hospice for the sacred dedication and attention they provided to Allen's care, especially his nurse Leah.
