Agnes (Smith) Wasalino

February 23, 1923 — July 26, 2016

Obituary Agnes was born in Dodge City, Kansas on February 23, 1922 and passed away on July 26, 2016. She was the daughter of John and Rhonda (Vaughn) Smith. She moved to Tacoma, Washington during World War II. She was an "elevator operator" at the Rust Building, where her supervisor Nancy Wasalino, introduced her to her brother-in-law, Steve Wasalino. She married Steve on June 29, 1944. She became a Homemaker and a Stay-at-Home Mom for her two children: Judi and Steven. To many in Steve's large extended family, she was "Aunt Aggie", always kind, supportive and willing to help. Her later years brought a new role as a loving "Nana" to her two granddaughters; Chrissi and Dara. All of her life, Agnes was a devout and worshiping Catholic; a member of St. Leo's Parish. She will always be fondly remembered by her family. Family members include daughter Judi Streepy (Frank), son Steven Wasalino (Diane), granddaughters; Chrissi Garrett (Todd) and Dara Wasalino-Tremblay (Chris), great-grandchildren; Matthew and Megan Matteo of Vancouver, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews in Washington and the mid-west. She was preceded in death by husband Steve, grandson Gregory Streepy, sister Jean Baldasare Gilich and brother John Smith. We wish to express appreciation to the caregivers and staff at The Weatherly Inn in Tacoma and Kent for their kindness and care shown to Agnes in the last years of her life.
