Agnes Josephine Jurich

March 19, 1925 — June 10, 2014

Obituary Agnes Josephine Jurich 3/19/1925 ~ 6/10/2014 Michael and Mary Kremer gave birth to Agnes Josephine on St. Josephs Day, March 19, 1925 in Tacoma. We children think that God placed her on earth as part of His management team. Phase one began at age 9 when her father died of pneumonia and mom guided her brother Mark and Croatian-speaking mother through the difficult years surrounding the Depression. During this time she still attended classes and graduated from Stadium High School in 1943. Phase two was starting her own family when she married her sweetheart Michael Jurich and together began nurturing and raising three children. Often there were periods where she had to manage the household alone during dads extended commercial fishing seasons in Alaska. She did this with frugality and resourcefulness and delivered it with compassion and tenderness. Phase three was doting on her six grandchildren. She so cherished the time with them as she and dad dropped everything at a moment's notice spending endless babysitting hours spread over many years. Mom instilled in them the spirit of love, joy, peace, kindness and forbearance. Someone once said that intelligence is the ability to survive in one's environment. God made a wise choice for His team as mom was a survivor to the end. But she will be truly remembered for her humility, unselfishness, compassion and the joy she brought to others.   Mom, say hi to Dad for us.   Agnes is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Brennan (Bill), and Susan Ann Elwell (Tom); son, Michael Jurich (Paula); six grandchildren, Alex and Bryan Elwell, Kelsey and Randy (Jossalyn) Brennan, Lynn Jurich (Brad Murray), Tracy Krilich (Mike); and two great-grandchildren, Madeline Brennan and Cameron Krilich; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jurich; and brother, Mark Kremer. No services will be held at Mom's request. The family will gather for a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way, Tacoma, WA 98466. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
