Obituary Afifi Kelly (Grayson) Puckett "Gigi" Afifi was born in Tacoma on December 1, 1909 and passed away peacefully on April 20, 2005 after 95 wonderful years. The sixth of seven children born to John and Elizabeth Kelly, she was named after the Afifi Shrine Band, which her father organized in May, 1909. She was a graduate of Tacoma's Stadium High School in 1928. Afifi was a long time employee of the State of Washington and served the public at the Department of Social and Health Services for over 30 years until her retirement in 1972. A gifted musician, she played both saxophone and drums in several girls' orchestras in the 1920's and 1930's and continued to play with her sisters and her brother in various orchestras throughout her life. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, R. Allan Grayson (Sandy) of Reno, Nevada, and Joseph D. Puckett (Judy) of Seattle. She was and will always be "Gigi" to her 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Waltman, Rachel Johnson and Maureen Koehler for their loving care and generosity. Each of them brought joy to her life and provided the greatest of care and support to her through the years.
