Lora Anne Cavanaugh passed away November 6, 2022 at the age of 86 in Tacoma, Washington.
Lora was born in Yakima, Washington, and moved to the Pacific Northwest as a child living in Bremerton, Tacoma, and Lakewood.
Lora attended Visitation Catholic School and Marylhurst College where she graduated with a degree in arts.
She married her husband Larry in 1958 and eventually moving to Fircrest, WA to raise their family and then lived in University place where she retired.
Lora loved to travel with her husband, either by plane or on a cruise ship. Hawaii being one of her favorite places to go. Lora and her husband also spent many years traveling in their boat around the Puget Sound and were active members of the Tacoma Yacht Club. Lora was also was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. She was also active with the Catholic Topics group.
Lora was a painter, loved to sew, and was always working on a craft project. She was a fashionista and loved shopping.
Lora volunteered over 14 years at Tacoma General and Allenmore Hospital. She did not join the workforce until her children had moved out in their own, where she then worked at Core-Mark as a salesperson for 15 years.
Lora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as giving and genuine individual and always putting others before her own needs.
Lora is survived by her husband Larry Cavanaugh, children, Sharon Schamber and husband Al Schamber , Anne Fuchs and her husband Bob Fuchs, Carla Steenerson and her husband Rick Steenerson, and son Patrick Cavanaugh and his wife Christie Cavanaugh, her brother Dr. George Redrich and her sister in law Lynn Redrich, grandchildren Meghan Larson and her husband Luke Larsen, Joe Cavanaugh, Wren Cavanaugh, Matthew Cavanaugh, great grandchildren Ben and Nora Larsen.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish on November 22 at 11:00 am, 7112 12th St., Tacoma, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to the St. Charles Borromeo food bank.
